DESCRIPTION:The community is invited to bring nonperishable food items to donate to a food drive which will help veterans in need. Last year 5.6 tons of food was collected at multiple sites.\n\n"Labor and Veterans   Partners in Service" is a project sponsored by California labor unions that spearheads helping veterans on three fronts: providing volunteer service\, opening doors to good jobs and providing this special Veterans Day event to honor our heroes for their service.\n\nSalute to Veterans will feature:\n\n  Complimentary lunch\n\n  "Take Me Home Huey" Vietnam-era helicopter exhibit\n\n  Bounce houses and postcard project for kids\n\n  Military vehicles and military reenactments\n\n  70 booths with information on services for veterans\, including free health screenings\, job access and resources\n\n  Food drive for veterans\n\n  Swing Cats band and swing dancers\n\n  Pacific Symphony Brass Quintet\n\nOC Market Place will be open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.\, and will offer ice cream treats at 2 p.m\, immediately following the Salute to Veterans event.\n\nHeroes Hall will be open and will feature a new exhibit\, Kimberly Millett's Operation Iraqi Freedom\, as well as the Veterans Story Booth where vets can record and share their tales of service. Heroes Hall will also present a plaque unveiling in the Medal of Honor Courtyard during the event.
