Apprenticeship Program
-
The Costa Mesa Chamber of Commerce is teaming up with local business organizations and our two high schools- Estancia and Costa Mesa, to offer graduating students the
opportunities for real career positions. The Student
There are highly qualified and motivated students graduating from our local high schools who may not have the desire or ability to pursue a college career. These students are looking to enter the workplace upon graduation.
The Employer
Many employers are looking for qualified, motivated and interested candidates to fill skilled positions. They are looking for capable employees that they can train in their systems and grow into sustaining career positions.
The Chamber Apprenticeship program offers employers the opportunity to hire prescreened high school graduating students for entry level positions within their organizations. All intern candidates will be selected by qualified high school counselors and Newport Mesa high school staff. Prior to job placement all students will also receive the following:- Students will work with the local Youth Employment Services (YES) organization for proper career skills development such as resume writing, interviewing, how to dress for success and more...
- Each intern candidate will be supported by the MIKA Community Development Corp and assigned with an adult mentor. The mentor will provide guidance, direction and support for the successful transition into the workforce and throughout the internship program.
- Financial support from the Chamber for additional educational and certification requirements
