Laura’s House Celebrates Grand Opening of New Resale Store in Costa Mesa with Ribbon Cutting and Community Applause
Costa Mesa, CA — Thursday, April 10th — Laura’s House proudly celebrated the grand opening of its newest Resale Store location in Costa Mesa on April 10th, marking a powerful step forward in the nonprofit’s ongoing mission to support individuals and families affected by domestic violence. The event was a tremendous success, reflecting the strength of community partnerships and advocacy.
Festivities began early, with a line of eager shoppers forming at 9:30 a.m. The first 50 attendees received complimentary Laura’s House tote bags, creating excitement even before the doors officially opened at 10:00 a.m. The event continued through 1:30 p.m., welcoming supporters to shop, connect, and celebrate while listening to upbeat pop music provided by DJ Keith Divel.
A ceremonial ribbon cutting took place at 11:30 a.m., with Laura’s House Board Chair Wayne Pinnell delivering remarks that underscored the significance of the Resale Stores in funding the organization’s vital programs. Pinnell thanked the Costa Mesa Chamber of Commerce, whose President and CEO David Haithcock was also in attendance, for its continued support of the store’s presence and growth in the local business community.
Orange County Supervisor Katrina Foley presented a formal recognition to Margaret R. Bayston, CEO and Executive Director of Laura’s House, honoring the organization’s impact and its commitment to providing life-saving services across the region.
The event welcomed a strong showing of community supporters and media sponsors, including Billboards, Inc., Costa Mesa Buzz, and more. Notable guests included Lillian Holler, the Field Representative for Assembly member Cottie Petrie-Norris; Justin Graves, the District Representative for California’s 37th Senate District representing Senator Steven Choi; and Juliann Harkness, Vice President of Member Services at the Costa Mesa Chamber of Commerce. Abby Paulson, District Associate of Supervisor Katrina Foley.
Laura’s House board members in attendance included Wayne Pinnell, Laura Khouri, Nancy Fitzgerald, Jim Murray, Aleksander Henka, Bruce Seder, and Linda Lam each of whom continues to play a vital role in advancing the organization’s mission and vision.
Also, in attendance was influencer ambassador Alison Barker, who helped amplify awareness of the grand opening and Laura’s House’s mission.
Following the ribbon cutting, guests enjoyed shopping the curated resale collection while listening to upbeat pop music, adding a vibrant energy to the grand opening celebration.

Proceeds from Laura’s House Resale Stores directly support the nonprofit’s programs, including emergency shelter, counseling, legal advocacy, and prevention education, all aimed at breaking the cycle of domestic violence.
