    Dear Costa Mesa Community,

Every year, the Costa Mesa Chamber of Commerce honors our City’s talented and highest performing graduating high school seniors and notable local college students.

We invite you to participate in this year’s scholarship program as a sponsor and/or donor to help us with funding for scholarships and the recognition event. The awards dinner is open to the public and we encourage you to join us in honoring this year's awards recipients - the next generation of community and business leaders!

In 1979, OCC’s president Robert Moore initiated the awards program by partnering with the Costa Mesa Chamber. He connected with the Chamber’s Education Committee Chair, Les Miller; President of the Lions Club, Conrad “Shorty” Scheafer; and award-winning OCC Professor, Hank Panian and asked them to help him launch Costa Mesa’s Outstanding Student Awards.

Les Miller committed his life's work to youth enrichment through education and athletics as a Newport-Mesa School teacher, a Newport Harbor High School Coach, and the first principal of Costa Mesa High School. After his passing in 1955, the Chamber scholarship program was renamed the Les Miller Outstanding Students Awards.
